The Department of Fisheries Extension, Economics and Statistics has been set up to acquaint the students with knowledge and skills mainly in the areas of Extension Education, Economics, Statistics and Entrepreneurship Development. The Department has mandate to conduct research and extension activities for the welfare of farmers and stakeholders. The Department has been offering courses at undergraduate level. The U.G. course is being revised time to time and was updated during 2016-17 and 2024-25 as per the V Deans Committee recommendation (ICAR) and VI Deans Committee recommendation (ICAR) respectively. The Department conducts Rural Fisheries Work Experience Programme for the final year students and Experiential Learning programme under Student READY Programme in which exposure visits are conducted at various fish farms, industries etc. to get practical knowledge in VII and VIII semesters respectively. The research efforts are focused on conducting socio-economic studies of fish farmers and fishers, assessing the knowledge level of fish farmers and evaluating the performance of fishermen cooperative societies in the Marathwada region. The department actively organises and participates in various outreach programs like training programs, field demonstrations, workshops and exhibition. The Department is equipped with Computer laboratory, Agriculture Technology Information Centre and Audio-Visual Cell.
